Rosa Davityan was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. In 1937 she studied at The Art College of Astrakhan and in 1946 – 1947 completed her diploma project called “The Fishing Season” at The Art College of Penza under the famous Russian Realist painter, B.S. Goryushkin-Sorokopudov, founder of the prominent Penza school of painting. In 1948 she returned to Astrakhan and started to participate in art exhibitions. The Volga River, the Caspian Sea coast and the ity of fishermen became the main source of inspiration for the artist who preferred to paint riverside scenes and seascapes in both oils and watercolors. Her most important works included those created on the themes of the city’s history and are kept in the Picture Gallery of Astrakhan. Home |
